Help needed in bodging together multiple engines into a good 'un.

Here's the scenario: original bike was a C50LAE - auto with CDI ignition, died through lack of oil (filter couldn't pass light, never mind oil!) - top end seized. Got a C70 barrel & piston on it, it runs but smokes badly - rings are shot but I can't seem to get rings to fit this piston, they are all too thick for the grooves. In the shed I have 2 C70 mills, one with CDI and one with points - the points one has a good top end, but is of the short conrod variety, the CDI one has no top end but I can't fit the top end from the other machine as this one is a 'long' conrod jobby.

So do I:

1. Bodge the wiring from the points machine to work in the CDI frame - is this possible and, if so, how? Yellow and white wires not a problem, neutral light doesn't exist, so I'm left with one B/W wire from the alternator to feed the coil and somehow hook into the ignition switch.

OR

2. Get the crank/conrod out of the points engine and nail it into the CDI motor - looks like a lot of spannering and sourcing of pullers etc, but may be a better bet than trying to run a points motor.

OR

3. Does anyone know the part number of the 'slimline' piston rings? Asking my local Honda dealer only brings up the 'Frame number Fandango' - like this:

Me: Can I get piston rings for my C70 piston please?
Honda Man: What's the frame number so I can look it up on the computer?
Me: Dunno, the bike's a bitsa.
HM: Not a Honda then?
Me: Yes, it's a hybrid C50/70 made up from bits sourced all over the place, hence the term 'bitsa' - bitsa this, bitsa that and so forth.
HM: Oh right, I see ..... so what's the frame number so I can look it up on the computer?
Me: Look, I don't have it, the engine came from a scrapyard and has no identifying marks. I can give you precise dimensions of the rings in question and any other technical info you like, but I don't have a frame number, OK?
HM: Yeah, gotcha .... so what's the frame number so I can look it up on the computer?
Me: AAARRRGGGHHH! *Hangs up in disgust*

Bit of a big ask, but any info would be greatly appreciated, there's a young lad out there smoking up the Scottish hills and going through 10W/40 like a 2-stroke - at least he won't need to do an oil change!

Thanks chaps
